COVID-19 Community Message
UPDATED: 4/22/2020, 10:00 a.m.
Dear MESD Community,
As we move through these unprecedented times we continue to provide answers to questions as they are available. As you know, Governor Brown ordered the closure of school buildings and campuses through the end of the school year. In response to that order, MESD has made several compensation and employment decisions which are detailed below. These decisions are based on currently available information and subject to change based on state guidance or funding adjustments. If, after reviewing the information, you have questions or concerns please contact HR or your supervisor.
Regular MESD employees
All regular MESD employees (classified, certified, confidential/contract, confidential/non-contract) will continue to be paid for their regular work year, on the normal payroll schedule, which is the last workday of each month.
Outdoor School Employees
Due to funding requirements, Outdoor School seasonal employees (field instructors and program leaders), will be paid their regular wage through May 22nd. Outdoor School seasonal nurses and kitchen staff will be paid through April 28.
Temporary Employees
Temporary employees will be paid through April 28.
Staffing Agency Contracts
MESD will terminate all non-essential contracts with staffing agencies by April 28th.
Telework
As we continue to provide Distance Learning for All and meet the requirements of the Governor’s orders, all employees are expected to be engaged and ready to work on all scheduled days and hours assigned to them on their normal work calendars. Any exceptions, vacation, PTO, sick leave usage need to be communicated with and approved by your supervisor per normal policies and procedures.
