Wellness
At MESD, we believe that caring for our educators means caring for our entire community.
The MESD community cares about your wellness. That is why we've developed SPARK Wellness - a program designed to support the health and well-being of our diverse workforce, both in and out of the workplace.
SPARK Wellness provides tools, resources, and inspiration that spark self-interest, renew motivation, and empower school staff to prioritize their own well-being. When you thrive, so do the students you serve.
SPARK Wellness focuses on the following core pillars:
- Social Wellness - Building strong, supportive relationships that foster a sense of connection and belonging within the MESD community.
- Physical Wellness - Engaging in healthy habits like exercise, nutrition, and sleep to maintain energy and prevent illness.
- Awareness - Being present and mindful. Recognizing emotions, stressors, and needs to support balanced well-being.
- Resources - Access to guidance, tools, and support to help you manage money confidently, reduce financial stress, and plan for a secure future.
- Knowledge - Empowering yourself with information and strategies to make informed choices for your health and wellness.

MESD Local Wellness Program
MESD is committed to the optimal development of every student and believes that a positive, safe, and health-promoting learning environment is necessary for students to have the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, developmental, and social success.
To help ensure students possess the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthy choices for a lifetime, MESD prepares and implements a comprehensive ESD nutrition program consistent with state and federal requirements for ESDs sponsoring the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and/or the School Breakfast Program (SBP).
The program reflects the Board’s commitment to providing adequate time for instruction that fosters healthy eating through nutrition education and promotion, serving healthy and appealing foods at ESD schools, developing food-use guidelines for staff, and establishing liaisons with nutrition service providers, as appropriate.
MESD is completing its triennial assessment of its local wellness plan in early February 2026. If you would like to provide feedback on the current program, please complete this form.
