Participants will stay and join more experienced scorers in the afternoon for further practice and refinement of scoring skills. At the end of the afternoon session, participants should feel comfortable with the scoring process. Participants who are Trainers in their school, or district will be given pointers to use with staff. Ongoing support by email is offered to everyone at the training. All materials are posted online for trainers to use.
Session Two: Calibration Refresher for Experienced Scorers, Trainers, and Essential Skills teachers who would like to refresh their skills. Time: 12:30 - 3:30 pm Teachers familiar with the Oregon Official Reading Scoring Guide will benefit from this session. It is tailored specifically to the Essential Skills requirement for graduation purposes, and participants will be calibrated to score for the Oregon Standards still in effect for students wishing to graduate. High school teachers who are experienced scorers or who teach language arts are welcome to come for calibration of their skills. The session also provides for a short networking and collaboration time between participants who work with students on the Essential Skills.
