Functional Living Skills
The Functional Living Skills (FLS) Program provides instruction for students K-21 with complex learning needs. The FLS Program provides a multidisciplinary approach to Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals with services that include Physical Therapy, Speech and Communication Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing Services, Behavioral and Vocational training. Classrooms are located in partner school districts to provide the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and to promote inclusion opportunities with general education students and within the community.

What are functional life skills?
- Communication – A way to make wants and needs known though language, pictures, signs, etc., including how to indicate preferences and say “NO”
- Choice-making – Choosing a preferred item or activity
- Safety – Knowing what to do to keep oneself safe in a dangerous situation, such as in an accident, or in case of a fire, or when encountering a stranger
- Self-care – Taking care of toileting, bathing, and other health and hygiene needs
- Leisure and recreation – Relaxation and having fun
- Vocational skills – Work skill
