Walden Crossing
Walden Crossing School is a small therapeutic and educational residential setting. Multnomah Education Service District (MESD) believes school is an important part of the therapeutic day as residential placement interrupts education acquisition and may cause worry about academic progress. During a scholar’s time at Walden Crossing School they will receive at least four hours of direct instruction throughout the day. Important points about the school program include:
- Walden Crossing School is an accredited school, and any credits earned count toward Oregon diploma requirements.
- The school staff is certified, and will include at least one teacher who is qualified to serve students with special education needs.
- All students have access to scheduled 1:1 instructional time provided in the afternoon.
- Students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504 plans will receive instruction and services in alignment with those plans.
- English Language is instruction provided as needed.
- Core curriculum content follows Oregon state standards, and is age and achievement level appropriate. This includes coursework in:
- English Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Social Studies
- Science
- Wellness
