MEP Binational Transfer Document
The Binational Transfer Document guarantees:
- Students are placed at the grade level they were in the US
- Students can start school when they arrive
- Students can attend their neighborhood school
Without the Binational Transfer Document:
- Students are assessed in Spanish and placed according to that level in school.
- Schools can tell families there is no room for their child, and the child may have to travel great distances to find a school that will take them.
- Students could have to wait until the following year to enroll in their local school.
Details for district staff:
- Binational Transfer Document is for students in grades 1-9
- Students in grades 10-12 no longer need to go through the process to get an Apostille, but do need to have their transcript notarized
- Read instructions
- If you need additional documents please contact the migrant program.
