Dear MESD Teachers,
Today, Tuesday May 3rd is National Teacher Appreciation Day and I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the important work that each of you do every day for our students. It takes a special type of person to teach, and even more so when teaching students who are highly impacted by traumas, medical conditions, and cognitive delays as is the case with so many of our students. It requires patience, empathy, a genuine interest in meeting the child where they are and helping them achieve their potential, and a nurturing spirit. In my recent school and program site visits I have witnessed these qualities in every teacher I have had the privilege of watching in action. Each day you provide the emotional, social, and academic support students need to be successful in school and in life and I so appreciate you. You greatly deserve the appreciation that this day brings. Thank you so much for your energy, dedication, expertise, and commitment to the children we serve. Scott
