Alyssa Tamargo
Transition 1 Teacher (503) 262-4008 atamargo@mesd.k12.or.us Hello everyone! My name is Alyssa, and I've been here at Wheatley since the 2014-15 school year. As a Transition teacher, my focus is on ensuring that all of my students have more independence in necessary real life skills at age 21 than they had when they started in my class at age 18. I have a particular passion for community instruction and believe that it is vital for that we support all of our students out there in the community regardless of the behavioral, cognitive, or physical challenges they may face. We also work with our students here on campus to help them gain the social, communication, and job skills that will help them as they move forward toward their life after school. I am fortunate to have a strong, caring, and creative team of educational assistants who work hard every day to provide the support our students need in their daily lives. |
Fran Verbruggen
Transition 2 Teacher (503) 262-4010 fverbrugg@mesd.k12.or.us Hi! I’m Fran. I used to teach the Elementary/Middle School class at Wheatley School. Now I teach the Transition 2 class. My goal is to help my students build independence and life skills So that they can build strong, healthy relationships, contribute to the community, and participate in activities that they enjoy. This distance learning hub contains a variety of wonderful activities that students can engage in when we are unable to meet in person, including speech and language, occupational therapy and self-regulation, and music and dance, in addition to parent resources. I will also be uploading some activities that students can work on at home. Feel free to browse the website to see what we offer. If there is something you don’t see but would like to have included on this distance learning hub, please let me know. |
