Randall Kidney Care
The Pediatric Dialysis Unit is located in the Hollywood District of Portland, and is staffed with one teacher.
These students are receiving hemodialysis treatment for kidney failure-end stage renal disease three times a week for 3-4 hours on average (each session).
We are a public school program that supports students, K-12, during their ongoing treatment. All students should have access to learning opportunities and a social learning environment. School at the clinic helps students reconnect to their routine and their school which in turn contributes to their healing process. Our teacher works closely with the nursing and medical staff to determine the appropriate level of activity for each student.

Meet the Randall Kidney Care Unit Staff
Hayley Duncan
Hospital Teacher Randall - Kidney Care hduncan@mesd.k12.or.us Ph: 971-430-0845 I am a Portland native and grew up hiking and traveling throughout the great Northwest. I love all things outdoors: biking, hiking, and playing outside with my family. I am a music enthusiast , and try to attend live concerts as often as possible. I attended the University of Arizona and earned a degree in Regional Development and Communications. My first career was in real estate and urban development. I went on to obtain my Master's Degree in Education from Lewis and Clark College and a Special Education endorsement from Portland State University. I started teaching in 2012 and taught 1st and 2nd grade in Portland Public Schools before joining MESD in 2019. My favorite part about being a teacher in the Hospital School Program is building relationships with students and their families. Often times families are surprised to learn that there are teachers available to help their students while they are navigating a medical situation. It brings me great joy to share that we can support their child's education needs so that they can focus on caring for themselves and their child |
